As you may have seen from my earlier post, I was in Manchester this weekend to attend the Herbalife UK & Ireland Spring Spectacular. I feel truly honoured to have spent the weekend with so many incredible distributors who are really making huge contributions to the people they are able to touch through their Herbalife businesses – not only their clients and of course their own families but also in their communities and beyond.
There were a number of times I had to hold back tears – and once or twice that I couldn’t!! I was particularly touched and inspired by the work of of the NCH / Casa Herbalife project in London which has been offering tremendous practical support and FUN to children who are the primary carers for their parents in the Hackney area….
A message from NCH, the children’s charity
Herbalife has established a Casa Herbalife programme as part of its Herbalife Family Foundation. The programme works with existing charitable organisations around the world to improve access to healthy and nutritious food for children and young people. In the UK, Herbalife Family Foundation has partnered with NCH, the children’s charity to create a Casa Herbalife programme for NCH Hackney Young Carers, in East London.
There are more than 150 young carers in Hackney aged between 5 and 18 who, for one reason or another, have become the primary carer for a member of their family or household and who live in poverty. The Casa Herbalife Programme will provide the skills and knowledge for young carers to eat and cook healthily, and the opportunity to enjoy a healthy meal in a social setting.
As a result of the tremendous success achieved last year through this joint-project, the Government have now allocated funding to continue this work which means the additional £17,500 that Herbalife contributed this weekend (partly from a Herbalife Family Foundation grant, and partly raised by distributors) can be used for a new programme of sporting activities which will encourage these children to exercise, participate in games with other young carers (many experience bullying at school) and have some much needed fun.
Throughout the year I will be organising a number of fundraising activities in support of this project – if you would like to join in, please get in touch. You are also welcome to make any ad hoc donations by clicking on my fundraising page: www.bmycharity.com/sknutrition
Thank you!
