Are YOU getting enough water?
May 12, 2008 by sknutrition

In the current heat, or if you are going on holiday, it is especially important that you pay attention to the amount of water you are drinking each day. I have written about the health benefits of correct hydration a number of times - here are some reminders for you:
- Hydration in the human body is paramount to our health and our energy level is greatly impacted by the amount of water that we drink. As little as a 5% drop in body fluids will cause a 25-30% loss of energy in most people. Proper hydration maintains healthy bodily function and prevents fatigue.
- It’s recommended that you drink at least EIGHT x 250ml /8oz cups of water every day - and if you spend more time outdoors, exercising or working in a hot environment, you need to increase this!
- Starting and ending each day with a glass of water will help your body to stay hydrated - your body loses fluid while you sleep.
- You shouldn’t wait until you are thirsty to drink water - by the time you feel thirsty, your body may have lost up to 500 ml of water already.
- Caffeinated and alcoholic drinks can act as a diuretic - robbing your body of water through increased urination, so you should not count this as part of your daily allowance and if you drink a lot of these beverages, many experts recommend you should actually increase the normal (eight) glasses of water required to keep your body in balance!
- During and following a workout you need to replenish water lost thorough perspiration - it is recommended that you drink 2 cups (500ml) of water for each pound lost during exercise.
- If you find it difficult to drink enough water, you may find it easier to keep a bottle of water with you throughout the day - on your desk, in your bag etc. Adding a healthy beverage such as Herbalife Aloe Concentrate or Thermojetics to your water can improve the taste and also add other health benefits for your digestion and well being!

Greetings,
This is all great advise to follow to strive for proper hydration. I’ve learned that (and is now my opionion) that if you are not drinking water, you are probably working on escalating a chronic dehydration condition. It isn’t casual to think that you body will consume/burn eight glass of water to digest sugar introduced by just one soft drink. What makes this worse is the acidity of the soft drink from phrophoric acid. It will take drinking 32 glasses of water to neutralize the acidity introduce to your body by the soft drink. Soft drinks are a major poision and it is sad to know that more soft drinks are consumed in the United states, than is water.
