‘Tis the season to be jolly. And for many people, it’s also the season to over-eat… to drink too much and to gain excess weight! To help you stay on track this festive season, here are some top tips for partying without ruining your diet or putting on weight!
- Enjoy a high protein meal BEFORE you go out partying which will fill you up for longer so you’re not too hungry and tempted to over-eat on high calorie (low nutrition) foods. If you don’t want to be bloated, make it a delicious Herbalife Formula 1 Shake and you can even add some Formula 3 Protein Powder to keep you satisfied for longer.
- Choose high protein canapes such as quails eggs, sushi and smoked salmon and avoid anything deep-fried or in pastry which are much higher in calories but do not fill you up for so long.
- Don’t stand next to the buffet table where you’ll be tempted to keep nibbling – even better, get on the dance floor and burn off some of the food you’ve eaten!
- Drink plenty of water! It will help you stay hydrated and help to reduce the amount of alcohol you consume – alcohol can be very calorific and can also reduce your will-power leaving you more prone to unhealthy snacking later in the evening.
- Be prepared! If you’ll be out visiting people and don’t know when you’ll get a chance to eat a proper meal, take some suitable snacks with you for the journey. A quick and easy “emergency pack” might include: Protein Bars, Roasted Soybeans and Formula 1 Shake sachets (just mix in some juice or milk) – all are low in calories, taste delicious and are convenient to use anywhere PLUS they will hold off your hunger by providing filling heart-healthy soy protein.
- If you are already following a Herbalife Weight Management or Healthy Breakfast Programmes, DON’T BE TEMPTED to skip your daily shake and vitamins – for relatively few calories they fill you up and satisfy your body’s need for various vitamins, minerals and nutrients meaning you are less likely to crave unhealthy foods. (I NEVER miss a shake, even on summer holidays and never put on more than 1lb/ 0.4 kg in a two week period of holidaying, often losing weight from being more active!)
- If you are not yet following a programme, but would be interested in getting started, either to help you control your hunger over the festive period, or as a way of losing weight in the new year (we have a number of places on the SK Nutrition Weight Management Programme starting January 5th), please contact us for information or to help you with your product selection.
