We all know we should eat fuits and vegetables (and for some of us, just those words will bring back childhood lectures from our parents!!) but many people are still deficient in their fruit and vegetable intake, and not eating close to the recommended 5 to 7 portions per day.

Fruit and veg are an essential part of our diet, providing a wide range of vitamins and minerals that serve an array of important functions in the human body. There are a whole load of reasons to eat a variety of colourful fresh items form your local grocer, farm shop or your supermarket. (more…)

Another interesting article from the BBC Health News webpages today: A vitamin found in meat, fish and milk may help stave off memory loss in old age, a study has suggested.

Older people with lower than average vitamin B12 levels were more than six times more likely to experience brain shrinkage, researchers concluded. The University of Oxford study, published in the journal Neurology, tested the 107 apparently healthy volunteers over a five-year period.

Some studies suggest two out of five people are deficient in the vitamin. (more…)

Q: Does dry skin cause wrinkles?
Dry skin doesn’t create wrinkles – it just makes them more noticeable. Wrinkles are the result of aging, sun damage, smoking and repetitive facial movements such as smiling, frowning or squinting. Well-hydrated skin decreases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the skin. The better hydrated your skin is, the firmer and smoother it appears.

The Herbalife NouriFusion Multivitamin Normal to Dry System is perfect for dry skin. The Skin Activator anti-aging line is excellent in combating fine lines and wrinkles.

Q: Do all sunscreens with SPF 15 prevent wrinkles?
Products containing sunscreens with UVA/UVB Broad Spectrum protection help prevent sunburn and wrinkles. All of Herbalife’s SPF products contain both UVA /UVB protection. It’s the UVA protection that shields the skin from the damaging rays of the sun that age the skin.

Herbalife’s NouriFusion and Skin Activator facial moisturizers contain Parsol 1789†, a revolutionary UVA sunscreen that protects the skin from both the long and short UVA rays of the sun. This same ingredient is found in the Radiant C Body Lotion with SPF 15 for all-over, daily protection.

Q: What is Glucosamine and does it help reduce the appearance of wrinkles?
The entire Skin Activator line is formulated with a unique, gentle, non-acid Glucosamine Complex, which helps enhance collagen production, aid hydration, repair weak and damaged skin cells and firm skin.

Independent clinical studies on the UGL Glucosamine Complex in Skin Activator show a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by as much as 57% after just 3 months!*¹

If you’d like to see how the Herbalife Outer Nutrition range can help the appearance of your skin, please contact us for more information or you can just TRY some of our products for yourself!

†Parsol 1789 is a registered trademark of DSM Nutritional Products, Inc. *Results of testing performed on active glucosamine ingredient. ¹After three months of regular usage.

As you start to take care of your skin, it’s important that you use appropriate products for your particular skin type – otherwise you could exacerbate any existing problems (e.g. by stripping dry skin of essential oils or adding inappropriate moisturisers to oily skin!)

Most people will have skin that tends towards being dry or being oily. Even those with seemingly ‘perfect’ skin will occasionally suffer from flaky patches or visible pores. Here are some pointers to help you identify your skin type and how to treat it. (more…)

At one of my all-time favourite training sessions, Jacquie Carter, Herbalife’s dynamic “Worldwide Outer Nutrition Trainer” gave some fabulous insights this weekend into just why it is SO important for us ALL to take care of our skin.

  • The skin is made up of approximately 26% protein

One of my clients started using Schizandra Plus a few weeks ago. This is Anita’s update after taking the product for a few weeks:

Well, I said I thought it was working ‘mysteriously’, that’s because at first I felt like I was going through a detox, but I am glad I recognised the symptoms and stayed with it, adding some additional measures to speed the detox along (more water, veggies and fruits). Conveniently this is just what Herbalife advises, too.As I mentioned, B6 is one of those vitamins which I have taken in the past, and has an almost instant uplifting effect, on my mood. Consequently, I think I’ve found it easer to mend my ways instead of making excuses.
