In many countries around the world, convenience has made real solid nutritional food take the back seat and created many problems in its wake.  Fast food, preservatives, and processed foods may create low-cost, long-lasting products that make the act of eating a cinch, but the long-term effects of ingesting these “foods” can be extremely hazardous and even life threatening.

So many people are now trying to watch their weight and eat right.  It is certainly the right thing to do for your health and for the environment, especially if your tastes include organic fruits, vegetables, and grains that promote sustainability in the process.  The problems start, however, when diet is not enough.

Supplementing Your Diet

So you think you’re eating well; you eat three squares a day and still perhaps feel sluggish and unable to get on the right track with your health.  Chances are you are now experiencing deficiencies in vital vitamins and trace minerals that your body was oblivious to when you were consuming processed foods.  Now that you are eating well, your body is trying to tell you that you’re missing something.

This is where supplements come in.

People often don’t realize that taking multivitamins and minerals is often the only way to get these substances into your body.  Over time, our bodies relied on certain things to achieve homeostasis, which included actually ingesting trace amounts of minerals on our foods.  With our focus on cleanliness these days, this is nearly impossible to achieve without supplements.

Help in a Pinch or On the Go

Additionally, it may not be entirely possible to consume all of the vitamins your body needs in raw form without running the gamut of the produce aisle in an attempt to ingest as much as possible.  Finding ways to supplement your protein and fiber intake is also far easier when using supplements and satisfies the need to get some fuel in a fast and convenient manner.

Smoothies and shakes are a great way to get the extra daily requirements in without having to slow down on the busiest of days.  Once your body adjusts to receiving these extra little boosts that it really needs to stay fully operational, you will begin to see and feel the difference.

Of course, no change in diet is complete without proper physical fitness and regular exercise.  Always consult a physician when making major lifestyle changes and try to avoid making abrupt changes, as serious complications can occur.

Danyelle babyRegular readers will have seen Danyelle’s “before and after” pictures on my blog and website in the past. I’ve managed to catch up with her today I am delighted to share her updated testimonial.

I was so excited when I first heard of her pregnancy and have been waiting for Danyelle to introduce her BEAUTIFUL daughter to everyone!

Here is what she said today:

In July 2007 I weighed 15st 9 and my life was a mess.

I had been trying for a baby for 6 years with no success so decided to change my life around. I’d had 4 attempts at IVF before then and nothing had worked so I thought ‘enough’s enough’ booked a trip to Australia, bought a sports car and I started Herbalife with Sarah’s help… and I stuck to it. I was not hungry like many other diets I had been on and I liked the taste (of the products).

By November 2007 when I went to Australia I was 12st and feeling great and even started running and look part in a 10k race and finished it. On 8th January 2008 I took a pregnancy test and it was positive – YES I had fallen pregnant naturally.

Throughout the 6 years I’d hidden behind the fact that it was the weight that stopped me getting pregnant and just wallowed in self pity and ate more.

On 20th September 2008 my beautiful daughter Maegan was born weighing a healthy 7lb and 12.5.

I am back on Herbalife now and breastfeeding and hopefully a brother or sister for Maegan will follow….

I am absolutely delighted for Danyelle and her husband – it’s this kind of “after” picture that really makes being an Herbalife Distributor feel so special. The products really can help people make major lasting changes to their lives that affect their whole families so much.

If you missed the original photos of Danyelle, you can see her before and after snaps on the Results page of the blog.

If you need help with getting your weight on track and would like to embark on a more healthy and active lifestyle, please contact me (Sarah) for more information, or you can browse the product range online at

Startling new research reported by the BBC today shows that there may well be a link between the quality of leadership at work and your health.

We’ve probably all been there – that sinking feeling that starts just before Sunday lunch and turns into full-blown dread by the time the alarm goes off on a Monday morning. I remember it all too well and know the very real physical effects that the stress of a terrible manager had on me – I was often ill, my weight ballooned and I suffered from IBS for several years. In the end I did the only thing I could do – I changed jobs and found something I enjoyed.

If YOU are feeling the effects of work-related stress, there are several things you can try: (more…)

Emma C & Paul - Before Herbalife

Emma C & Paul - BEFORE Herbalife

A very quick update from our bride-to-be Emma C today – with less than 2 weeks until the wedding, she has now lost 100 cms from around her body by following her Herbalife Weight Management Programme and regular exercise and she is sounding very excited. I haven’t seen any pictures for a while (the suspense is killing me) but I’m already charging the camera for the big event!!

Both Emma and Paul have had a storming week of weight loss this week (that’s all I can really say due to legislative restraints!!!)

It’s really inspiring to see how this couple have not only lost body-fat but have really made some positive changes to their lifestyles throughout 2008. They are much fitter and healthier as well as looking great!

WELL DONE TO YOU BOTH! Can’t wait to see you!!!!!!!

If you’ve stumbled across this looking for inspiration for your own wedding, please feel free to contact me for further information on the Herbalife Weight Management Programme and how SK Nutrition can help you achieve your goals.

fluvirus

It seems that Winter is well on its way – not only is it dark and cold outside, but bugs are EVERYWHERE! Even various friends with the strongest of constitutions tell me they feel they are fighting something off, have a tickle in their throat or have families with all sorts of viruses and sniffles. If like me, you have a susceptible toddler (not to mention a personal immune system weakened by pregnancy) going out in public seems like a game of Russian roulette!

There are some things you can do to help protect yourself and your family from the afflictions associated with the cold weather, so here are a few tips: (more…)

Another interesting article from the BBC Health News webpages today: A vitamin found in meat, fish and milk may help stave off memory loss in old age, a study has suggested.

Older people with lower than average vitamin B12 levels were more than six times more likely to experience brain shrinkage, researchers concluded. The University of Oxford study, published in the journal Neurology, tested the 107 apparently healthy volunteers over a five-year period.

Some studies suggest two out of five people are deficient in the vitamin. (more…)
